Children’s Bike Helmets: There’s More to It than Just Putting Them On

School is out for the summer in Fort Worth and Dallas and you know what that means: it’s time for the kids to play. Whether your children enjoy playing at the swimming pool, on a trampoline or riding bikes with friends, the most important thing is their safety. As a child injury lawyer in Fort Worth, I’ve seen too many avoidable accidents happen in the summer to kids. Sometimes as parents, we overlook simple safety precautions that could save our children from pain and suffering if they get into an accident. Making sure our children’s bike helmets fit them correctly is just one of these precautions that often gets overlooked.

Did you know that a properly fitted bike helmet reduces the risk of a head injury by 85 percent? Before you let your kids ride anywhere make sure their bike helmets fit them the right way. On my law firm’s website, we’ve provided you with six easy steps to properly fit a bicycle helmet so that you and your loved ones can always stay safe.

Although these tips were written with children in mind, they can be applied to adults, too. Nobody who rides is completely safe from bicycle accidents in Fort Worth. The laws regarding bicycle helmets in Dallas, Fort Worth and the surrounding Metroplex are different in each city, but one thing is for sure: it never hurts to have extra protection if you’re going to ride a bike.

So enjoy life on two wheels and make sure you and your family are wearing bike helmets the right way. If you ever are hurt in a bicycle accident, give my accident and injury law firm a call at 817-294-1900.
