Bicycle-Car Collision in Saginaw, Texas Injures 11 Year Old Girl
An 11-year-old girl from Saginaw, TX was hit by an SUV on Tuesday as she was riding her bicycle. The crash occurred at the intersection of High Country and East Bailey Boswell Road in far north Fort Worth. The SUV was driven by an 18-year-old, who stopped immediately after the collision. The 11 year old girl was care-flighted to Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth and is reported to be in good condition.
I don't know any other information about this wreck, but I always wonder when I see these reports what was the cause of the accident. I see a good portion of these bicycle/car collisions being caused by either the bike rider or the car driver not paying attention. I'm not saying that is the case here, as I don't know what caused the accident, but it makes me wonder. I sure hope the 11-year-old girl recovers quickly from her injuries.
Personally, I somewhat know how the 18-year-old motorist feels, as I was involved in a bicycle/vehicle collision when I was in high school. Coincidently, my accident occurred in Saginaw. In my wreck, the cause was the bicyclist pulling in front of me as I was driving through an apartment complex. However, as I get older and look back, I wonder if I would have been more of an experienced driver if I would have been able to avoid the accident.
