Man Drives Wrong Way on Dallas Tollway
A Dallas Morning News carrier was killed this morning after he made a U-turn on the North Dallas Tollway, driving southbound in the northbound lanes before crashing into oncoming traffic.
26-year-old Darian Carter was heading to work at 3:15 a.m. on the tollway near the Harvest Hill exit when he turned his Nissan Maxima around and drove it 80 miles per hour in the wrong direction. His car crashed into a man in a Scion, who had been traveling at approximately 60 miles per hour.
Carter was killed in the wreck and the other driver—whose name has not been released –is undergoing surgery at Parkland Hospital in Dallas. The Texas Department of Public Safety closed the southbound lanes of the tollway after the accident but they have since re-opened.
An accident investigation is pending as to why Carter decided to drive the wrong way on the freeway.
